On one of the most tricky trends, I put mixing prints right up the ladder. But here’s the good news: It doesn’t take a lot of effort to master the art of mixing and matching. Once you learn a few simple tricks of the art, you’ll be pairing patterns like an expert in no time. I promise, it’s easier than it looks
1. Patterns: checks with checks or stripes with stripes. The key is to make sure that with each new pattern you layer, the width or size of the pattern is different on each piece. For example: if you like bold stripes they show confidence and power, so wear a thin striped dress shirt and a repp tie for an even bolder look
2. Tonal: different patterns such as checks and stripes. By using patterns of different shades of the same color, it will create a fine look while showing you’re not afraid to be a little adventurous.
3. Mix it up: don’t get too matchy-matchy. In this, use colors that complement each other. These colors do not have to be in the same category. For example: a pink striped shirt with a navy check jacket.
