STORII STORII

As a group of young aspiring designers and three creatives, Damaris Ochieng, Brian Odipo and William Malawi have founded a startup community storii storii as a channel to express some of their passions in the fashion industry. During the interview this week this is what they had to say about their start up.

1. WHERE ARE YOU GUYS FROM?

Damaris Awuor - Student at KCA University

Brian Odipo - Student at The University of Nairobi

William Malawi - Joining September intake.

2. HOW WOULD YOU GUYS DESCRIBE STORII STORII

~We are basically art lovers

~Start with Brian he's a demin designer who loves art~Malawi is a muse and loves art too

~Damaris she's a blogger fashion blogger {though I'm thinking of changing my way of blogging}

3. HOW DID YOU GUYS COME UP WITH THE NAME "STORII STORII"

well, what we do is express our ideas in the form of stories and also the name is a bit familiar among the youth that's why we thought of it as the most suitable name for the community.

4. WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START STORII STORII

We were inspired by the evolving culture of fashion and art. Though we decided to take a different path with the 'storii storii' We come up with stories pile up ideas then take photos according to the theme of the story.

5. WHAT ARE SOME OF THE CHALLANGES YOU GUYS FACE?

Getting money and the locations have been some of our major problems during the course of the year.

6. ANY NEW IDEAS AND DESIGNS YOU GUYS HAVE?

We can't reveal them yet We prefer surprises.

7. WHAT FASHION TRENDS DO YOU FEEL SHOULD BE REVIVED?

Damaris - for me its definitely RETRO !!
Brian - smart casual, mainly old school. shirt, dress pants, and classy rubber shoes

8. WHAT FASHION TRENDS SHOULD BE STOPPED?

These western modern trends
The 'lil uzi' and 'Migos' kinda fashion sense where people wear a lot of clothes for no good reason.

9. WHAT DO YOU THINK THE KENYAN FASHION SCENE NEEDS?

" Creativity says it all" Brian

" For me, people just need to support and promote each other. To be specific: I like what Thrift Social does, these events inspire young designers to be innovative in very many ways.

10. ANY ADVICE YOU'D GIVE TO PEOPLE THINKING OF FORMING A COMMUNITY?

Members matter a lot, work together, share ideas and always remember creativity is key.
