With nearly everyone launching urban retail clothing stores around Kenya, It’s all about the retail experience and ease of service nowadays, with both factors contributing to having stable customer relations. There is no sure way to it, experience can either make or break a company. Providing an outstanding experience encourages your customers to return, which boosts sales and in future builds profit.
We'll let me not bore you with all these findings, on to the main agenda.
This month on the shopping experience is all about going urban, urban everything and what better place to get that perfect urban Nairobian look other than NAIROBI APPAREL DISTRICT.
I’ve never been much of a casual wear lover but the experience at their store changed everything plus their outstanding designs made me feel so fresh and legit.
This is one of the best shopping experiences I’ve ever had. Immediately I arrived and walked through the door I didn’t really know what to expect but just from the look of things everything was in order I even had the pleasure of indulging in a one on one FIFA WARFARE with my photographer while I was waiting for the request I made to be completed. I wouldn’t compare the atmosphere with any place, I really connected to the designers it felt like more of a community than a shopping store.
You would ask what makes NAIROBI APPAREL DISTRICT the best of the best when it comes to urban and street wear, well here are the replies to a brief interview I had with one of the designers, Sabare Brian.
1. Brief history of the place and how would you describe NAIROBI APPAREL DISTRICT?
We as NAIROBI APPAREL DISTRICT have established ourselves as a luxury street brand. It all started back in 2013 with our founder Junior Orina popularly known as Orina Freshman launching the brand. Since then we’ve been able to build our brand and even get a secure location for our operations at Solar House Agha Khan Walk opposite Electricity House.
2. What’s the size of your workforce?
Since we started we’ve been able to grow and now comprises of :
Orina Freshman.
Smoke the Nemesis (Evance.)
Sabare Brian.
Telvyn.
We are all creatives and the effort we put together in our work uniquely contributes to the growth of the brand.
3. What are some of the past successful collaborations you’ve had?
We’ve been able to dress a number of celebrities from Camp Mulla, Barak, Tracy Wanjiru, Amina Abdi, nick Mutuma, Sauti Sol, Adelle Onyango the list goes on and on.
We’ve also had our fair share of success in a number of projects like:
With Adelle Onyango for the ANYANGO COLLECTION.
(designed by Orinah, smoke the nemesis and Adelle.)
With Muthoni Drummer Queen for her video THE CRIMINAL off her new album.
(all clothes in the video designed by smoke the nemesis.)
With 1v1 for the 2in1 jackets.
(designed by sabare brian and smillez.)
4. Any new projects we should be excited about?
Don’t worry we are having a major project cooking up with ARAKNIDA dropping in a weeks’ time.
For those who don’t know, ARAKNIDA is afro minimalist’s brand.
5. Have you guys had any thoughts of going big and opening other stores?
We have actually thought of going big but in this game it’s all about trusting the process and respecting your hustle.
Growth is inevitable we’ll just expand with time.
6. On the latest trends people are going digital and there are high preferences for stores with mobile applications. On this are you guys planning on creating a digital platform to ease your customer experience?
We’ve thought about it and we are coming up with a website to sell our merchandise on instead of relying on Instagram and DMs.
I’d also say they have everything that makes a perfect retail experience from some of the things I picked up while I was interacting with them.
i. Good customer relations.
Now this is what I really loved about the place, I mean the VIP treatment they give their customers. Being a store that hasn't been that long in the business they have really good customer services, these are the services I'd compare to huge stores like Little Red. It has everything even an Xbox to chill out with while waiting on your order. This is definitely a 5 star on customer relations.
ii. Talented stylists and designers.
Working with a limited supply of labour has always prover to be tough especially when you tend to handle a lot of orders but at NAIROBI APPAREL DISTRICT the designers ensure that the quality of their orders are perfect and in good shape, never disappoints this is one place I’ll assure you’ll get out satisfied.
iii. Variety of designs.
From a huge selection of ready-made prints to designs you’d be spoilt for choice plus they offer custom made services so you can tell them what specific designs you want and they would do the best to meet your expectations.
iv. Fast delivery.
You’d be impressed by how fast their designers work, in fact they are the fastest designers I’ve ever worked with, if you make a deadline for your order I assure you they will deliver in time.
v. Good prices and discounts.
I bet the first impression you would have of their work would be “expensive.” Well this is not the case, they actually offer really good prices considering the quality of products they offer.
The Onyango collection it goes for Ksh 3000.
For the 2 in 1 jakets they'll cost you only ksh 2000 ....Imagine!!
For customized jackets they cost
Ksh 2500.
These are just but a few of the several options you'll have while shopping at NAIROBI APPAREL DISTRICT.
vi. Fair return policies.
Their return policies are so fair its unbelievable.
For example, if they do customisation for a customer and the quality of the job is compromised the are actually willing to do the merchandise for free.
Also if a customer orders specific brands and merchandise descriptions and they don’t deliver as per the customers’ expectations they are willing to refund.
These are the type of return policies that would motivate me to continue purchasing at least I’m assured their work will be waaaay beyond my expectations.
All these and much more you yet to know. this is one store you should definitely shop if you looking for the perfect Nairobi shopping experience. Head out today and get your whole street look under one roof.
